Nicola Woolfrey is a tenacious producer with over a decade of experience as a creative storyteller. Starting her career hitting weekly deadlines for the UK’s hit show ’Top of the Pops’, she went on to become Head of Production at Jungle, and played a vital role over 7 years in helping the company grow into the Film & TV industry leader it is today. Having worked for some of Australia’s most renowned Directors, Nicola’s producing credits span TV Commercials, TV series for the ABC, as well as branded content for Channel 7 and Nickelodeon. Co-founding Paper Dragon in 2014 with Director Sam Couzens, Nicola’s strengths lie in assembling kick-ass teams, being able to work a budget like no other, and her background in comedy helps her maintain a sense of humour around the water cooler that gives David Brent a run for his money. Nicola is passionate about creating quality film content, getting the dollars on screen, being innovative and staying locked on the future of filmmaking.
Sam Couzens is an experienced and passionate director who delivers a strong cinematic visual aesthetic in his work. Combined with Post-Production and VFX competence, he has the ability to work across format and genre. In addition, Sam's knowledge of story and character along with a comprehensive understanding of the actors process, allows him to elicit authentic on-screen performances from talent of all backgrounds. Sam’s versatility is derived from his 15 years experience working both in front and behind the camera. His technical knowledge and storytelling abilities stem from time both in advertising agencies and production companies. This diverse experience allows Sam to make the most of the production budget to maximise value on screen. Since co-founding Paper Dragon in 2014, Sam has both directed and creatively managed the post-production on many productions, including content work for Canon, McDonald’s & The Red Cross, TVCs for Colgate, Cadbury, Palmolive & The Australia Day Council, a cinema campaign for Newington College as well as bigger budget productions such as the complex motion control TVC for Ezibuy (Saatchi & Saatchi) and the VFX heavy motorcycle road safety campaign Ride To Live (Y&R).
Known for his innate ability to distill the essence of a story or character into a singular image, Mark has worked on sixty feature films and thirty television dramas, including Ridley Scott’s Alien Covenant and the Academy Award nominated films Lion and Hacksaw Ridge. His instinctive story-telling skills and engaging people photography also distinguish his advertising work for which he is commissioned by major companies around the world including Panasonic, Toyota, Palmolive, Cadbury, Telstra, Jetstar, Sony Music USA, David Jones, Save the Children and Mission Australia. Alongside his film and television work, Mark is regularly sought after for his celebrity portraiture, photographing the likes of Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Rupert Murdoch, Nicole Kidman, Malcolm Turnbull and Henry Rollins. Defined by an ease and directness, he is able to elicit both disarming warmth and wry collusion from his subjects. His pictures have been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, The Art Gallery of NSW, The Australian Centre for Photography and internationally.
Adele Vuko is developing a prolific portfolio in directing. In 2016 the internationally co-financed show WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM aired on ABC TV, iView and NBCU’s SEESO in the US, of which Adele was a co-director, co-writer and co-creator. In 2015, her short film THE POLYGAMIST which she co-wrote and co-created, premiered in Flickerfest, and in 2014 made official selection in the St Kilda Film Festival (2014), Iron Mule Festival – Judges Favourite (2014), Urban Media Makers Film Festival (2014), Rottofest (2014), NYC Independent Film Festival (2014). In 2014 she made her TV directorial debut for ABC 2 Fresh Blood’s IN A WOMAN’S WORLD. She is also behind the viral hits ACTIVEWEAR and directed the musical comedy hit I GOT THAT FLOW – both of which have accrued, over 100 million views. She has directed branded content pieces for OPTUS, WESTPAC, OCEAN SPRAY and NETFLIX across 2016 and 2017. 2015 also marked the debut of her comedy collective - Skit Box - live stage production SKITBOX PRESENTS – which Adele co- wrote, co-starred and co-directed, also taking the ‘Genre Excellence’ award for the Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival.
